I went shopping for one of the little pond boats and looked very hard at about everything on the market, with the exception of the Twin Troller�.a bit spendy for my taste. I had owned a couple of the Bass Hunters many years ago but the new ones are a whole new animal. They are no longer made in two pieces, glued together and filled with foam. They are cast as a single piece in high density plastic, they call it �expedition tough�. I don�t think you can hurt this thing with anything short of a chain saw. And it�s pretty easy to hook to the mule and skid across the grass to put it away from the thieves. So far I am very impressed.

I've got one like this and it's suprisingly stable. I've had about 700 pounds in it too, including the 5 hp merc 4 stroke........

I've had a hard time getting the right boat for the pond. One that's not too heavy and will take the weather when stored outside. The alum. john boat below is the one I think will work for me. I'm putting on a second set of oar locks and a sprayer holder in back. I've had three boats in the past for the pond that just didn't work for me. I burnt one to get rid of it. The second was a fiberglass very heavy one that come in two parts bolted together in the middle for transporting in a pick up truck. To turn it over for protection when not in use I had to use a tractor bucket. I gave that boat away. Then a few years ago after trying to get a used aluminum john boat for less then $600 I built the sailboat that could be used for the pond and sailing. It worked but was also heavy. I got the aluminum john boat off Creggs List for $300 and boy did I jump at it.

I bought one of the early "plastic" boats and found that you'd better keep it covered. The UV rays ate mine. No idea if that is still the case.

I have an older plastic boat, and this thing and I have been through a lot together. At one time it was registered and I used it on the strip pits just south of here. I could load it in the bed of a pickup, by myself, and still close the tailgate. Perfect one man boat, although it had two guys in it a lot of times also.

I've long since retired it from public water, and I use it here on my own ponds. Built a trailer so I could tow it behind the mule, and gave it a coat of paint.

I have had a plastic 13' two-seat Old Town canoe for 30 years.
I did paint it to protect it from UV, and have replaced the cane seats twice. It sits a little lower in the water these days due to the increasing gravity. I'll let you know how well it last after the next 20 years.

The increase in gravitational pull is felt here also, RAH. At this time however, my greatest concern is the apparently unstable geology of the region. I have begun noticing that all of the hills and hollers indicative to southern Indiana are becoming steeper, and deeper.

I find it strangely suspicious that there has been no mention of these phenomena on the local news. I fear sinister forces may be involved in a cover-up.

You need to ask the retired news commentators about that. I am sure that they have noticed:)

I recently inherited a small little fiberglass bass boat
from my brother. It's somewhat old (1990 era),
the company that made it no longer exists,
but he had it re-furbed a few years ago.

It is really stable and comfortable.
I think it is 8 or 10 feet long.
It has stick steering for the small gas motor
I can't remember the horse-power.
As you can see in the picture...I love it.

Don't mean ta rain on yer parade guys but Bills Little Dingy is probably the sites favorite choice. I've got an ol Johnson but my dingy is toooo small.

I love small fishing boats, pirogues, and mini-pontoon boats.

My first mini-boat was a WaterBuster.

When the Tx heat dies down we'll do some fishing.
