I'd appreciate any opinions on bubble tubing vs. a traditional diffuser; in particular something like the Vertex XL2SW - designed for shallow water applications such as 5-7 ft ponds.
Bubble tubing sounds like a great idea to me but I'm puzzled why it seems to not have been picked up by major aeration system manufacturers for shallow pond applications.

Bubble tubing does pretty well in shallow water, up to 2 feet deep. The reason bubble tubing is not used by major aeration makers is that it is very inefficient. The bubble size is very large by comparison to membrane diffusers and the clog quickly...same as aquarium air stones.
The better bubble hoses have to be very precisely installed to work well...not good if you have fish or wind/wave action often relocating it.

Also prone to clogging and uneven bubble distribution
