Plankton in algae can be treated with dyes.. but I'm not sure about swimming in a dyed pond if it'll turn your skin colors.. planktonic algae is usually beneficial to ponds.. Filementous algae is what most people worry about and treat it is best control with copper products but some people don't like using copper products too.. Just have to search around the forum for some answers and I'm sure more will chime in..
