Absolutely! Water is more dense the cooler it is down to about 39 F. but lower than that it gets lighter. Denser water impedes settling. At least that is what a chemist told me.

I've noticed this with alum treatments I have made in the past. The colder water didn't settle as well.


There may be other factors involved as well such as increased phytoplankton in warmer water which aids in settling.


If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
