Does water and/or air temp. have anything to do with how fast muddy water settles? My pond seems to settle faster now that its warmer out side.
brand new, never before used 1/4 acre pond.

Water is more dense the cooler it is down to about 39 F. but lower than that it gets lighter. Denser water impedes settling. At least that is what a chemist told me. I've noticed this with alum treatments I have made in the past. The colder water didn't settle as well. There may be other factors involved as well such as increased phytoplankton in warmer water which aids in settling.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Okie, high winds in flat areas will keep sand and other junk suspended. Of course, the winds also help with oxygen absorption. Dead calm, overcast days scare the dickens out of me.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

luckly here in oklahoma we don't go very long without some wind. I went out this morning to check the pond and it is already startting to settle.
brand new, never before used 1/4 acre pond.
