Have you had the pond water tested? If so and its been determined that gypsum will benefit your situation then follow Bobad's suggestion on the bucket test.
As Theo mentioned, there are some caveats associated with adding sheetrock to pond water. This subject has been discussed in the past and a search on the subject should yield more food for thought.
