Thanks, those are good ideas! My pond to be (cross my fingers) is in a relatively big watershed with lots of clay, but the watershed is planted with timber. Lots of pine needles to build up acidic tannins, obviously. Don't know if liming the timber would do any harm to the trees and wildlife, will have to look into this.
