You can do them simultaneously if the alkalinity is over 20 ppm +-. But as noted above go slow with all fertilizer applications until you have significant experience with each pond. See the archive http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=96127#Post96127
