Pond Boss Forums AQUATIC VEGETATION Controlling unwanted plants Brown blobs everywhere - HELP!

I've posted on another string before the brown blobs decided to take over my entire pond. Water quality is pretty clear, but these blobs are everywhere! I think this brown algae is not harmful from what I've read, and my banks are well naturalized with plants. Problem is, its been a late spring and plants are just starting to emerge from dormancy. There are some frogs and water bugs in the water. I have a solar powered aerator running in the daytime...
Is there anything I can do about this brown algae infestation? Have company coming on the long weekend and this is unsightly, not to mention unpleasant to swim in...

It's breaking lose from the bottom and is common this time of year. A good wind will push it to one shore where you scoop it up with a net or wait for it to break down. If you had a diffuser in the center of the pond it would move it to shore.

Swimming up there this time of year? Are you kidding me?

Thanks Cecil! Will try scooping it out, but there's so much of it and it breaks up easily when scooped.
Yes, us hearty Canadians do make a point of getting in the water the long weekend in May! :-)

You need a net with a finer mesh. A very shallow sein would work too.

Forest Dweller must have some nads but I bet they shrivel right swimming this time of yr.

I doubt Christina has nads that shrivel up.
