Same thing happened here. I sicked the dog after them but was he'd drown trying to swim them down. I shot the 22 semi off half a dozen times and they would'nt come off the pond. Got out the 12 ga and fired near them 3 times with no success. Next day they were gone. I saw them down the road at the graveyard pond. I figured the goslings couldn't fly yet so the parents just walked them away from a threatening place. Just my guess. Bob you mean old man! I threw rocks at three of them once. They finally got the message when I accidentally hit one with golf ball size rock. It made a nice thud too. I'll bet there was a bruise.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
