Hello, new to the forums. I recently acquired a property with a pond that was built 6 months ago, filling up as we speak. It is about 3/4 acre lake when completely full. The backside seems too steep, with about a 3:2 ratio. I know 2:1 is considered minimum. So my question is whether this will ultimately fail, and what I can do to prevent. I have a pic I can post, but I can't figure out how to attach.
Thanks for your advise.

Just posted a picture in the gallery called "steep dam ??" to get a visual of the backside.

Jon with the correct soil it can be done, but it can be a challenge to maintain at best. We have approximately 300' of our dam with the same slope, and it took a lot of early maintenance to keep deep ruts from forming and getting a good cover of grass. Even if just weeds grow, it's much better than bare ground.

So far the maintanance has been to add soil to where the erosion or ruts are forming. We are actively trying to get the grass growing. I was even thinking of putting a mesh over the top and sides to prevent erosion and get the vegitation established.
