Yes when using the kind of grass shrimp we have for bait, they do better not in water. Sorta like crabs, keep them cool and damp but not in water. Wet marsh grass from where you caught them, in a small cooler works. Ice under a mesh screen is perfect.
You can put 2 or 3 on the same hook for bait also. I don't use them for bait in freshwater but I'm sure they would be great for BG's and RES. Come to think of it, I am going to catch some and try them on bedding BG's.
