Our HBG will take on this dark coloration as they grow larger. They are naturally dark anyway, aside from the fin markings, but it increases with size.
TJ you're right on, these are both males and I would classify these fish as Bluegill dominant in appearance. I would like to see the bottom fish fill out a little more, and grow taller, to really show off the BG traits.
