Caught quite a few 1-1.5lb LMB tonight and 3 nice crappie. While cleaning the fish I found 2 or 3 had 1.5" fish in their bellies. Eaten long enough ago not to have much color left but based on body shape and mouth size, I would guess BG. Given the 1.5" length would that be a late spawn last year? Wouldn't think it would've been warm enough this year for that size yet. Could it be young crappie?

Too early to be that size for crappie or BG born this year even for Texas. Most likely a spawn from last year.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking as well. We didn't catch any big fish, but everything we caught was fat and healthy.

My uncle did catch this big girl earlier this week. He didn't have a scale or tape with him and wanted to get her back in the water ASAP. His shoe is 12" long, so she's bumping 25". We guessed her in the 10-11lb range. Heckuva nice fish!

The wind finally laid down late Sunday afternoon and boy howdy you could see a lot of small CNBG in the shallows! I snapped this picture with my phone down my uncle's lake right before dark last night. Wow!
