Last summer I bought a house with two ponds. One up top I cleaned out with a trash pum , removed 3ft of muck. Took about 2 months. Luckily I live in the mountains and the pond refills very quick. Project was a success by just slopping and pumping. Pond size was small about 20 yards wide and 60 long. Now I got into the lower pond. About 8th of a acre. The pond bottom only has average 1ft of muck but the sides have pockets of 3-4ft. Large pockets of hydrogen sulfide bad plants FA. I have added aeration. I started using my trash pump to stir the entire pond, releasing the muck and gas. If I keep stirring it will the biological debris break down fairly fast or will I have to scrub it like I did the top pond?
