Anyone in Indiana fish the White Bass Spawn? I have been hearing about it for several years and have not given it much thought until this year. I live near Flat Rock River in South Eastern Indiana and have heard several guys mention that they can be caught there but not in near the quantities that they are caught off of Brookville Lake. I remember as a very young child seeing a gentleman at Versialles State Park fishing close to the dam and he was slaughtering some fish. I believe he called them white fish and now I am wondering if this is the same fish. If anyone wants to chime in with advice on catching them, feel free. Thanks and have a nice day.

The only White Bass Spawn that I've fished has been in the Wolf River in Wisconsin, and that was a LONG time ago.

We used a 3-way swivel, about a 2' dropper to the weight, and about 18" to the hook using a large FHM or small Shiner. IIRC we'd vary the weight so it'd barely bounce along the bottom as we fished in the river.

I used to do it every year. When they mass up in creeks and rivers to spawn, they're pretty easy to catch. I always preferred roadrunners or jigs with grubs.

Dave D. is right on - white bass spawn is in full glory right now in Texas creeks and rivers - those that have any water in them - that is.

White Bass are the mama and daddies of my beloved HSB - Sunshine and Palmetto Bass that is.
These fish were caught in the Sabine River, posted by a Texas Fishing Forum fly fisherman.

They are a blast to catch on any tackle!

We fish the spawn here in IL - but it's a good bit later than you folks down south. If you catch it right it's a LOAD of fun. The bigger lakes around here, specifically Carlysle, have good white bass fishing usually in late spring and on into early summer.

Only a hand full of lakes in VA that have white bass in them and they are all a long drive away. Used to catch a few in one lake they were introduced in up in PA. The world record white bass was caught in a small lake not too far from my house. Biologists still have no clue how it got in there...
