Rain mixed with snow here on Tuesday afternoon with no accumulation, it will be too warm. They are calling for a high of 75 today.

Great, my makeup snow goose hunt is Wednesday, going to be hard to see them in the snow. Thousands of white fronted geese are migrating through here right now along with 10s of thousands of snow geese. This is for Scott, this was a couple of miles from my house on Saturday

Is the Turkey Vulture some kind of spring bellweather?
I seem to recall seeing them year round, at least in Western PA.

Spring is definitely coming. I have been seeing flocks of cardinals, lots of hawks and misc. other birds showing up. They are heading up North to see you guys. Of course, they just might sit awhile if they see the weather forecast.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I thought they depended on thermals, which doesn't happen with snow on the ground. Once snow is off, they move in to find the bodies released from the snow and ice.
We are expecting 18" Wednesday. Ugh.

Sunil, yes. They eat carrion, and can't do that if the roadkill is frozen. It doesn't seem to stop my crows. They pound it like a beaked sludge hammer even when frozen.

5 to 9 inches now for snow with a low of 1 degree tomorrow night. 51 F. right now.
I wonder if that will be a record low for that day in March?

Cecil, same amount of snow for us here, and about the same temps. They said 1"-2" per hour of snow was possible.

Poop, now at a Blizzard Warning. Keeps getting better and better! I can't wait to see/experience this one!
Stinky as it was over 50 degrees today and we were just starting to see more grass than snow. What the lord taketh away he will giveth right back!
I have some Caged Alpha Monkey and plenty of remote work to do from home, so I am all set. The trouble is an overly active 8yo boy.

Yeesh. All I know is that I had at least 12 inches of ice on both ponds just a few days ago. We had a couple of feet of snow on the ground.
I buried my 4WD tractor, above both axles, in mud when I was trying to open my driveway ditches two days ago. My driveway is a lot like a half mile of tomato soup, 12 inches deep.
But,it got close to 70 today. My main pond lost much of its ice. The other pond is still pretty frozen.
I have two cages at the end of the dock on my main pond. I was able to pull one of them up this evening. I think I'm going to name it the "Donner Party" cage. Before everything froze over, way too early last fall, the cage had some really nice bass, crappie, and bluegill. It now only has about a dozen fat bluegill.

It hit 75 degrees here this afternoon. We're supposed to get around an inch of ice and snow mix tomorrow, with a high of 35. Down to 12 tomorrow night.
