Brian,

Thanks for the pictures. Glad to hear you have a solution to your muddy pond problem but it certainly looks like it will be an expensive excavation project. \:\( Keep us posted on your progress.

Eeesh. Just looked at your photos.

The brown stuff, what is that? The bottom of the pond basin?

The yellowish-green appears to be filamentous algae. That true?

How deep is that thing, maybe two inches?

Hard to discern just what I'm seeing, but it does not look good.

Have you sought help from a pond professional?

WE DRAINED THIS LAKE TO DIG IT OUT DEEPER. THE BIG BROWN STUFF IN PILES IS ALL OF THE OLD TIMBER THAT THE CONTRACTOR JUST PUSHED INTO THE CREEK. THEY FILLED UP THE ONLY DEEP WATER AREA WE HAD WITH TREE TRUNKS AND MUD.

The yellowish-green appears to be filamentous algae. That true?

THE YELLOW RESULTED FROM LAST YEARS FERTILIZATION WITH PELLET FERTILIZER. I ASSUME THAT IS WHAT WAS TRAPPED AND LEFT IN THE SILTY MUD IN THE BOTTOM. JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT YOU SHOULD USE LIQUID OR DILUTED FERTILIZERS.

How deep is that thing, maybe two inches?

NOT A WHOLE LOT MORE....THIS SIDE OF THE LAKE ONLY AVERAGED 3.5' DEEP AND HAD NO DEEPER WATER. THE RESULTS WERE CONSTANT MUDDY WATER CONDITIONS.

Hard to discern just what I'm seeing, but it does not look good.

NOPE, WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL. COST CUTTING MEASURES USED DURING CONSTRUCTION LED TO ALL OF THIS. PROPER DEPTHS WERE NEVER ESTABLISHED, TO MUCH TRASH WAS LEFT IN THE LAKE AND CREEK BOTTOM, AND NO WATER OVER 4'DEEP ANYWHERE.

Have you sought help from a pond professional?

ACTUALLY, THE ONE AND ONLY BOB LUSK CAME TO SEE OUR LAKE ON HIS TOUR!! HE IS THE ONE THAT STARTED ALL OF THIS MESS....JUST KIDDING BOB. WE ARE NOW IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO SELL THE DIRT OUT OF THE LAKE BOTTOM. WE HAVE 3 INTERESTED PARTIES.
