Cecil, I've seen ice fishermen bring wood to make a fire on the ice, then leave what they didn't burn to float around in the lake after ice off. I thought that was illegal now? We used build fires on the ice in Massachusetts but didn't leave any unburned wood. The ash and charcoal that was left fell in with the melting ice and wasn't a problem. Charcoal is used as a water purifier.
