I used Sonar or should I say I had pond management person apply Sonar to my pond. It had watermeal and duckweed very bad. I had 2 applications applied. I think he used 11 ozs. each application but it may have been 11oz then 9oz. it works very well, but you still have to try and get a handle on the underlying problems pictures before and after

If you provide any kind of artificial feed in the pond with Tilapia, it may reduce their effectiveness at controlling FA and duckweed...and the effectiveness reduction can be significant (up to 70%) depending on how much artificial feed is provided.
Duckweed can be controlled by Tilapia but you need stocking rates much higher than we normally use for FA control and forage production. All situations are different, but generally about 30 pounds per acre has been found to be successful for duckweed control by Tilapia in our area.

NOT TRUE...  We have an aggressive feeding program with three feeders on a 2 acre pond - very seldom see tilapia around feeders and they have done an excellent job on FA control....  "IT ALL DEPENDS"

I checked on the web for Sonar.. High Dollar stuff.. Do any of you have a source for Sonar at a somewhat reduced price? Thanks

Thanks.. I use Grazon P+D on my pastures for Broadleaf weed control.. Cattle can grase on the pasture while spraying.. I do not know if this would be and an effective way to control Duckweed.. Heres the link to Grazon P+D http://www.dowagro.com/range/products/grazonPD.htm

Unless a new herbicide for duckweed is on the market, diquat is the herbicide to use.
