My next pond Im about to build is going to be a swimming pond. In my effort to keep the pond clear im making it 7 feet deep...So I cant touch the bottom everytime I get in it. Im just wondering....does a lot of plant life still grow at 7 feet deep in a pond?

If the water is real clear, YES! In our pond I have seen the milfoil and coontail regulary reach the surface in 7-8 ft of water. There have been a few occasions where I have seen aquatic vegetation reach the surface in as much as 11 ft of water.

Are you planning on using aquashade or another dye, face? A swimmin' pond is one place I would sure think about it, unless it was cement.

Well its a damed up creek so the dye will just run out of it. The creek is only a trickle in the summer...(a little more when a rain spell hits)...but for most of the time its about the amount of 2 garden hoses going all the time. Plus I dont know about swimming in the colored chemical water? I talked with people and heard a few different things.

Seriously, what have you heard about swimming in dyed water? I don't think anyone has ever mentioned problems with it here.

The depth of macrophytes depends mainly on how far down the sunlight penetrates. The dyes used for ponds will not stain you or your clothes.
I've snagged aquatic vegetation in 50 feet of water with my lures in Quabbin reservoir in Massachusetts. Of course the water there is exceptionally clear.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Ive heard it does stain your clothes to some degree. But who knows?...Ive heard that it doesnt too. NICE photo! hahaa
