I would respectfully disagree as well. I remember being in grade or maybe middle school when the change was supposed to be happening. We were taught both. IMO metric is by far more consistent, easier to learn and use. I am kind of surprised that we never made it over the hump.
Metrics has nothing to do with consistency or accuracy. It's just another set of units that all equate back to the same. The real stuff.
Supposed to be simpler because it's based on 10, and so the effect on dumbing down. Most people can remember the number 10
