I bought some Aquashade today..last night hubby raked the pond, which was covered with either Charra or Widgen Grass at least 50%. I hope by putting in the Aquashade, I can control some of the growth without haveing a DO crash. I have some Algae Bloom as well. Am I gonna make a mistake?

Edit: Pond size is about a 1/4 acre and around 4 ft deep at one end and maybe 2 ft at the other, due to drought conditions.

Well since no one answered, mistake or not I added the Aquashade. I put in a pint it made the water more of a greenish color then blue, I suppose because I didn't add that much.

I've got no info on this for you, Chris, but I'm sorry we didn't give you a bump a few days ago.

I don't know anything about the subject either, Chris. Sorry about that.

I do know for sure that a lot of the aquatic vegetation people are unbelievably busy this time of year----controlling aquatic vegetation.

Chris, You wont have a "crash" but in theory you will lower your DO somewhat. Since your pond is shallow it can pick up O2 with some wind / wave action.Aquashade is blue and yellow acid The yellow is slight perhaps 2.39 or 2.79 % what yellow and blue can give you a greenish (antifreeze) look at times even though it pours out very blue.Usually with chara and w. grass you have little FA as the competition for nutrients is won by the Chara, often times eliminating it brings on more FA. Shallow small ponds take the most management skills so hang in there. Bruce your right"unbelievably busy"

Thanks all, I haven't noticed any problem as of yet. Here is a picture of the pond I took today. Kinda sad huh? We just haven't had any rain to fill 'er up.

The dark areas are the Charra/Widgen Grass. We are thinking of removing some more of it. I was wondering,... will it make the water warmer if we do?

Big or small, it is a beautiful pond. I hope someday we can see pics of it full! Bobbi
