Pond Boss Forums MANAGING AN EXISTING POND Feeding Sweeney Feeders

Are Sweeney Feeders hard to work on or parts very expensive? I have the opportunity to buy a few that are not working for what I feel is a good price. The guy says he does not know what is wrong with them and hasn't even attempted to fix/work on them. Are they simple like deer auto deer feeders to fix? Thanks for your help!

Well I went ahead and bought 2 of the non working feeders. Everything seams to be intact and complete minus the timer unit. Planning on going thru the feeders and making 2 working units! I will try to post up pics of my progress.

Sweeney seemes to have gone thru a couple periods of hard times. I don't know if parts are available or not. If the timers aren't available, I'd bet that timers from Texas Hunter feeders could be retrofitted.

Yea I have found a few articles online about retrofitting timers to the Sweeney feeder. No more than I have in these feeders it will be a fun project to work on! The inside of the feeders look great and I don't think it will be too hard to get them going again.

I sent a couple of timers back to Sweeney in May 2013. They fixed them and returned them in a highly acceptable time. At that time they seemed to be in business and providing service.

I called and spoke with a lady very nice people! They are going to email me a parts breakdown and wiring diagram. After I take feeders apart and test motors I will order all parts needed to fix.

I had a little extra time over the weekend and tested the motors and solenoids on both feeders and they work! Looks like I lucked up and only need a timer. I am still planning on taking feeders apart and re-wiring and cleaning up the internals, maybe even some fresh paint on the outside!
