I posted last summer in a fish stocking forum that my new pond which was completed in the early fall had been stocked with trout, and as of this posting are thriving in the 4 acre impoundment. The pond has a shallow bay about 1.5 acres that ranges from 1-6 ft. It connects to the larger area via an 8-12 ft channel into a 21ft. Deep end that is spring fed by a deep aquifer. We are scheduled to have 1000 jumbo perch delivered in early spring. They are males and egg laden females 5-7 inches from Laggis fish farm here in Michigan.
Laggis raises pellet trained perch. My questions are about location, feeder models, types, frequency, of feeding to get them as big as quickly as possible ?
I am not going to worry at this juncture about the costs because I have planned and saved to do this !
I forgot to mention it has 5 aerators.

Thanks !

I've noticed YP (from Dan) feeding on floating pellets in water that quickly transitioned from 4'-6' deep to 10' depths. The feeder is set to throw food over the shallower area, but the wind will blow the pellets over the deeper areas rather quickly. Having some cover near the feeder seems to increase the number of fish present.

I've used Stren AquaPro feeders and Texas Hunter feeders. Any new feeders would be TH feeders. As for the model, it all depends on the length of time you will be away from the pond. I can fill the TH DF125 feeders with enough food to last a month. For the amount to feed, let the fish tell you. Feed no more than what they can consume in 15 minutes. They might start out slowly at first, and more will feed once they get used to the pond and know where they are getting the free meal.

Food? If Dan is close enough to you, I'd get the Silver Cup that he feeds. I can't get it, so I feed Purina Aquamax 600.

I'd throw some used christmas trees in the shallower area so the YP have a place to lay their eggs. (3'-6' depths)
