Hey guys, we just finished filling our bream/bass pond with well water this past week. It seems to me there is a healthy bloom already happening because I can see small algae floating around. We are planning to stock the bream tomorrow so we got a water tested earlier this week.
Ph- 8.6 Alkalinity- 228 Hardness- 213
From the research I have done it seems the ph will lower over the next few weeks asorganic matter degrades and rain water neutralizes the bases. It is close to the ideal ph but it is high for sure. Will the fish be ok in this?
The alkalinity seems good to support a bloom just high. They also did not find any high levels of salt or metals. I really just want to make sure the bream won't die when we add them.

Might want to contact the place you are getting the bream from and inquire what the ph is in the ponds the fish will be coming from. Also let them know what your ph is and ask them if there is anything special you should do or be aware of.
Just from my reading (not first hand experience) it seems the water temperature or ph differences too abruptly can shock the fish. So the only thing I personally know of I would want to ensure is that the fish have adequate time and water mixing exchange from the different BOW's to acclimate them gradually to whatever differences there are between the water they came from and the water they are going into.
In other words, don't just dump them in. But you probably already knew that.

ph changes throughout the day/night. Alka is just about perfect for LMB/BG. What about DO in the well water.

I will talk to the fish guy tomorrow about his ph. Seems like everything is on track.
As far as DO, they were not able to test that at the pool center I went to. We had the water free fall about 15 feet out of the pipe feeding the pond and splash on structure. We shall see... Thanks for the input.
