Rain, freezing rain. Plenty of ice to go around, but not on your pond.

Snow on top of the freezing rain made for fun driving this morning. Keyholes were all frozen in my truck doors so had to heat the key up repeatedly to unlock the door, then let the truck run for a half hour with heat blasting so I could chip the ice off the windows.
Other than that, it was a decent day.

All of ours melted. Then we received 1.5" of rain and a bit of freezing rain which all melted this morning. The best par is we gained 28" of water in the pond and rising in just two days. Yay! Probably exiting the overflow by now, but need to wrap presents with the wife so I will look tomorrow.

Glad ya got some liquid for the pond.
Watching the news last night, and there are quite a few without power due to the ice. Some won't have it restored till the end of the week. Not fun to loose power in the winter.

I would say we had a White Christmas!  This was just a few miles from my Dad's house. (pic taken thru windshield) 17 mile stretch of back road with snow covered trees hanging over the road. The power lines were sagging pretty good in a few spots. I kinda like scenes like this.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Quite a few still are, and based on the news, probably won't have power restored till this weekend. The power outages are due to the ice. This area wasn't in the heavy ice path, and maybe only got a brief and light coating. Pic was taken about 15 miles or so east of John's place, off M120 on Ryerson.

If you took your time, you could get a lot of nice shots. I was just buzzing down the road and took a quick one. Last year I was heading to GR on M45 after Ice, and one stretch it was like driving thru a Crystal tunnel. Pretty cool and wish I got a pic, but M45 is a fairly busy road. People with snowmobiles are out in force up this way. You can legally drive them on the roads. When I had mine, I lived in a county where it was Verboten!, but hell, they couldn't catch you no matter how hard they tried. Been chased  BIL's WE Ice Patrol Rig. He tow's a lot of stuff out on the ice. It floats!  He's hoping for some decent ice in Saginaw Bay in the next two weeks before he has to head back to work in Texas.
