Alright so last Christmas I received a super ghetto fish feeder as a gift. Heres a link to the specific model-

Has anyone used this feeder or anything similar? If so how did you install it other than hanging it on a tree branch? I really dont want to let this feeder go to waste but I'm having trouble finding an effective place to use it.
Also after I expand my pond I want to install a higher quality feeder. Which one is the most bang for my buck?

I have the same feeder and have mine hanging off the hand rail of my dock I welded a piece of angle iron to a piece of flat stock to make it strong enough then I milled a slot in the angle for the handle and drilled two holes to attach it to the hand rail works good so far been in operation for at least a year now had to replace the battery so far that has been it texas hunter feeders are probably some of the best when I get a little spare change I will probably look into one of them

I have a model similar to your "super ghetto" feeder, and for the money, it has performed great over the last 3 years. The only negative I can offer is that during a hurricane or tropical storm, sometimes moisture will cause the feed to clump up just above the spinning plate. Lodging it loose with a twig gets it going again.

I have similar feeder and built a bigger "awning" over the food thrower. It helped in light soakings, but when we got a good rain, I was messing with it for a couple of days. Another note, depending were you install it, these feeders on the beginning and end of the cycle "dribble" out. If it is on shore, that draws critters, or if the water is shallow enough, those smart Blue Herons can learn the cycle times and wait in the shallow water for the little guys coming up next to shore!
I am hoping to get a Texas Hunter this winter.

I started with a pair of those, and got about 2 years a piece out of them. As was stated, moisture seemed to cause my biggest issues with them.

I might buy one for a fun pond, but I would take them down when the fish feedings slow down and clean and dry them thoroughly. But, I try to do that now even with my TH's.
