I was cleaning a 16" bass the other day as part of our culling, and I noticed these things in the filet, that I'm not sure what they were. One side had 3, and the other side had 1. They were a little bigger than a bb,and when I took them out of the meat, they looked like a little piece of liver. I cut them with the knife, and you could slice them. They really reminded me of liver. They had blood in them, but it wasn't like they were a pocket of blood. There was nothing on the outside of the fish that looked out of the ordinary.
Could this be some type of parasite or tumor?
I should have taken a picture, but I did not think about it at the time. I just tossed the fish in the garbage.
The lake is in a neighborhood, so it does have lots of lawn run off, and also a golf course that probably half the course drains into the lake, and another course a half mile up stream.
Any thoughts on what it could be? Do you think the fish is safe to eat?
