Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Water Softener Salt back wash????

I am not sure why I didn't think about this earlier but here goes...

I currently have a half acre pond, about 3 million liters. It is supplied by rain and run off from 12 acres. I also have 3 of my eve troughs and my sump pump running into it. I have hard water and have a water softener hooked up. It uses about 60kg of salt per year. During which time it re charges the brine by back washing salt through the unit. further after the salt is used by the softener does it change its form?

Here's my worry. The salt eventually ends up in the crushed rock under my basement slab where it works its way to the sump pit where it collects with other ground water and is then pumped into my pond.

My main questions is will this negatively effect my pond life and fish? before I dug my pond for the last two years it has been pumping out on my lawn, I haven't seen any negative effects to the grass. (So I would assume its diluted quite a bit)

Anybody know anything about this? I have heard about people adding salt to ponds but heard its very dangerous if the levels are not perfect.
