I was watching the pond out back earlier and what was interesting is when a down burst would hit the water. It seemed to flatten out all the ripples and make that area look calm. If you blinked, you missed it.

Did it really get to 87 degrees today (Nov 17th) in Dallas?

Crazy!

It was a balmy 65 here earlier.

The winds seem to be tapering off now.

I have a pretty good hunch that I may have a mess to deal with tomorrow. I can think of a few things that would not be very secure with these winds.

I think everything is good here. Sunset happened pretty quickly after the storms, so I haven't inspected everything yet.

We had two storms roll through the area. First one seemed like it was going to be bad according to the weather station and radar, but it split to the North and South. Sun came out and I thought everything was done. I was at the lake house (it has a basement, where my house does not). A friend from Chicago was in the area, and he came over to ride out the storm too.

My sister rolled past to look at a friends place, and continued to our parents house. I decided to follow, but it got dark out again, and I decided to wait a bit. My buddy had left for home when the sun came out after the first storm, so he missed the 2nd storm. When that 1st storm blew by, it took out the power. It took a while to get the garage door up because the power was out, but I decided to drive around the lake to Mom & Dad's house. In the 10 minutes between my sister going by and me driving down the same road, an 18" dia Oak tree broke off about 20' up and was completely blocking the road.

Parents are fine, some snow fencing was blown down, that's all. But, in South Bend, there was at least one houe completely demolished by a large tree being uprooted and falling on the house, and the wind damage was worse up there. Nothing like Illinois saw tho.

I'm heading up soon to see what kind of mess I have. Been sorting a lot of stuff and it's kinda spread out covered with tarps.

We had all kinds of dire warnings for a late night storm but nothing more than a band of strong winds and some heavy rain ended up happening. I was putting up siding on the building at our farm about half an hour beforehand and as I was leaving remarked to my buddy about how fast the clouds were moving. The moon was in and out and had to be one of the brightest moons I've seen in a while - almost didn't need headlights.

Glad to hear everyone who has posted so far is okay. Hope nobody got hit too badly.

We drove through that whole mess coming back from the hospital in Sycamore, IL. Power went off there, and the generators kicked on. It was, by far, the worst drive of my life. Much of the trip home was an obstacle course, dodging powerlines, construction debris, and overturned semis, campers, and trailers. Fortunately, we "threaded the needle," missing the tornadoes by a margin of minutes to a half hour. When we got home, we had a tree on our roof but had minimal damage. I'm very thankful.

We're good here, but a few miles further south, (and north), they weren't as lucky. Rode out a violent wind and hail episode in the parking lot at Walmart. They weren't letting anyone inside.

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

We were lucky enough to be in between the 2 big cells...tornado damage 40 miles north and 50 miles south...here we just got trees down and some other minor issues.

My wife is on the roof replacing shingles. Very large telephone pole is still leaning in a tree up front, but electric is on.

Have a piece of soffit loose and a few shingles missing. Had a section of wooden privacy fence blown down and one barely there. A few things blown around. Other than that we're good and just waiting for the wind to completely die down so I can do repairs.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I'll be out the rest of the day doing load development work.
