Ventura effect will suck in air, like those adapters on hoses for spraying pesticides. See if you can dig something up on Ebay for this...

As the pond fills you lose that extra drop anyways. Venturi will cut back on your flow also but I don't know how much. Is this setup going to run forever or is it just to supplement the pond once and a while?

Just summer months during irrigating 6 acres of lawn, as fast as the siphon is though it's really dependent on how long our springs run but somewhere between 3-6 months. Nothing from 1 month ago to April
We hit 6 pretty decent springs, 1 of them moved a 100' wide by 9' tall piece of earth over night
