Im reading and finding that a new pond shouldn't be filled very fast if at all possible, I can fill ours at 100 Gal per minute and did this all day yesterday and it put about 1' of water in the bottom of the pond. If my math serves me well this is 1/2" of rain across 10 acres, that doesn't seem to fast does it?

Is 10 acres your total watershed for the pond and is what your estimating?

If your math is right, and then say plug in 100 acres for a watershed it adds up fast. But there are a lot of variables, like how fast does that rain come down and soaks in or not, what grade of hills you have, and soil types, etc, etc. I am sure there is an agency that can help you figure all this out for your particular location.

I'm saying I am doing in manually from another pond right now, I have 20+ acres of watershed but Im pumping 100 gallons a minute into the new pond which is 6000 gallons an hour and 144,000 gallons a day which is what 1/2" of rain would produce over half my watershed. The pond already has 2' of water in the bottom at the dam in 1 day.I'm guessing they might be talking about completely filling the pond too fast as in a heavy rain that fills the entire new pond in a day.......not 4 and only being 1/2 full

I've never heard that a new pond shouldn't be filled very fast.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I was reading some where about the anti seep failure and they said the number #1 cause of dam failures is filling too fast on a newly built dam, I don't see where 100 gallons a minute is that fast, I'm giving it a day break between filling.

Oh and the latest video......I'm changing all the links and deleting the old ones
