Welcome Jason, maybe you can help us out at the nursing home where several of us call home. We bought some W. Va. hybrids last spring but had all kinds of problems with them. We knew they would be inbred but were worse then we thought. They could not feed on pellets till we ground them into really small pieces. We had no idea they normally have small teeth. They were easy to catch, turn on "Springer" and you can dip them up with a dip net. We do have a pick-up we can use to pick them up with but if you are located close to where "Deliverance" was taped you can just ship them to us. Take care.

Jason,
Welcome to the forum,
It seems your reputation has preceded you but for use newbs could you tell me what a Georgia Giant Hybrid Bream is and tell me what is special about them in relation to what most people stock i.e. bluegill, redear or the common HBGxGSF cross?
Personally, my interest is purely in aquaponics as opposed to pond management so a large and fast growing fish that can handle texas winters is appealing.

Evidently the first few questions were too much for Jason since there has been no reply. I doubt he intended to tell what was used to make the GG cross and why the GG is better than the standard HBG despite saying he would welcome and answer any questions.

BC, perhaps he took Bill Duggans advice and researched some of those old discussions and ran. IIRC there was a lot of requests for studies and even tho Deb said Ken had em, none were ever presented. I do recall that Meadowlark was experimenting with em. About a yr ago I went to his site and he was reporting that his had not reverted back to mostly GSF. When I get some time I'll check Meadowlarks site and see if there's any updates. Interesting topic even if it was/is just good hype.

If you have something good and solid, why not promote it the best you can? Seems deceiving to me, or just didn't know how to answer questions properly, or maybe just didn't know what they really had, but were OCD, and seemed to work for them and could not get beyond red neck and shot it in that direction. I felt a brain cell die here. Don't know, but I have to apply a band aid before the rest leaks on the floor.

Bill, nothing but mindless dribble from me. I do know several people that used GG and were tickled to death with them. I would try a few myself if I had a place for them. I admire anyone that is self-employed. Time always tells if you have a good business model. Cream does rise to the top. Take care.

I'll summarize my personal experience with Georgia Giant Bream.
I ordered them
I paid for them
They were delivered in horrifically bad shape
90% mortality
Survivors looked exactly like Green sunfish/bluegill hybrids
Took pictures of them
8 months and 1,000 bucks I'll never get back
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

Thanks Bruce that helped not getting Jason to post. Not saying you are wrong but Jason is not Ken but different. Not a slap against Ken. As I have said many times let's debate the fish not the person. I think we missed a great opportunity

It was absolutely the worst I've ever been treated by any individual or business in my 25 years involved in ponds or pond management. If you believe that makes it MY fault, then so be it. I care more about my fellow forum members than anything else. I tried hard to stick to facts and not opinions. Everything I said is thoroughly documented with photography and video, including the condition of the fish as they were taken off the truck.

If their business model has changed, I'd love to have them as active members of the pond boss community. Bill, what do you believe would be a more appropriate way to communicate previous negative experiences?

One customer who is dissatisfied will cost a business 100 times more business then 50 satisfied ones can generate. That is why most companies will take a loss to make someone happy. Bruce has ample reason to be vocal. L.L. Bean had every pair of his Maine boots returned the first year and replaced them all with a smile. A good reputation means everything in business and is easily lost and is very hard to get back. The Golden Rule really does apply. Take care.

It's ironic this topic appeared. I sort of manage a small pond locally and ordered some bluegill through my local bait store which were claimed to be georgia giants and I live in the northeast. I put over 100 3'' gills in the pond this morning for forage for the bass. I guess the ones who survive being a meal I will get to see how fast they grow.

How did "we" miss a great opportunity when Jason has not responded? He has had ample opportunity pre Bruce.

Maybe they should remove the BBB Logo from their website, as they are not an accredited BBB business. That sounds a bit shady right there. Easy to look this stuff up. Not saying the BBB is a saint either. They'll give any business a bad rating for not becoming a member and paying them, if requested. I was approached by the BBB to become a member and said no thanks. Automatically got an F for not following their wishes, and forking over some cash. The BBB is a general consumer watchdog group, and I didn't think at the time the general consumer was going to buy a custom built gantry robot system from me to sling around truck frames and install it in their living room Most of the big retail outlets are not BBB accredited either, but they don't have the BBB Logo on their website either. Just a thought.
