Feeding definitely makes a difference!

Nice fish and growth!

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

6" in May would make that fish about 18 months old now. Very nice! Any others caught, smaller, similar size?

This is by far the largest one. most have been 13-14 inches. There was some variance in size when Overtons brought them to me.

I keep worrying about getting them hook shy, but they are so dang fun to catch. My boys LOVE them. We havent even targeted the bass at all this fall as the hybrids are so much fun to catch. I think live bait, or pellet lure they will remain catch-able.
. I still feed 4x daily, and then hand feed some LMB aquamax. They hammer the big pellets now.

I am so glad I stocked them. I hope to do a year class every year so they are stair stepped in size.

Very similar to our results with Todd's HSB on combo of AM 600 , GFC and LMB pellets.

FWIW HSB are different than other pond predator fish as to feed contents as they can metabolize carbs which can make them morbidly obese. I would think twice before I fed them catfish food (or other high carb diets) only.

Yeah good luck with continuing to catch them! I done the same as you loved catching them HSB but all of a sudden they won't bite a pellet on a hook for nothing. Even without a bobber the just flash at it and swim away! I would be careful how much you fish for them. I'm just saying. You may have a little better luck with a fly rod??

Totally worth it from what I see. My fish took a few days, but now are feeding on it fairly well! Turns out evening feeding got them started. They ignored it at first in the morning. The pellets would pass right in front of them without a twitch. Now one look and its gone.

4" at spring release. AquaMax every evening. Anybody else see the happy face? May be bigger ones. I'll check again tomorrow now that water is cooling off.

john,

Looks great!

I think we have had similar growth rates.

They are so much fun to catch.
