Man, I'd never play poker with anyone who'd stick his fingers in the mouth of Red Eared Sunfish.

John W., as you get to know Alejandro better, you start to understand why he chose a 'poker-type' name for membership on a pond forum.

. . . . .(???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????) Ah, the story of "holdemplyer"... It's best told over some cold refreshments, a deck of cards & a stack of cash. Maybe an evening during PB IV. The beast of a red ear put up a mighty fight on my 4wt after taking a bead head hare's ear nymph. Alex aka Alejandro, aka TJ's Hispanic friend, aka Omaha's manual labor

"Bead head hare's ear nymph"........I'm now ashamed of myself for using a simple plastic.

Don't forget about the waxworm, Sparkie.
But you get credit for the 1/80oz jighead, and the 2# test. And remember, you were fishing for "bream".

I nearly forgot about that Yolk. Those waxworms were hand selected by me just for this trip, on the basis of physical stamina, mental alertness, and intestinal fortitude.

Those wax worms survived all the way from Indiana in what appeared to be a red Skoal can.

Those wax worm survived all the way from Indiana in what appeared to be a red Skoal can. Exactly. Not your average waxworm. Think Full Metal Jacket, by Stanley Kubrick. The training regiment was harsh.

If searching for a puck, you have to get the original one. They're made from heavy waxed cardboard and have a metal lid.

I've driven over them while on the mule...no problem. I'll just add that they are ideal for carrying waxies and spikes...my hands-down two favorite baits to tip for big BG's. All year round - not just in the winter. Those BG I caught at Bruce's were taken on the same setup I might use on the hardwater.

I seem to recall verbally abusing Alejandro about all the work he took to catch that first RES, and then he admitted he tipped his fly with a nub of nightcrawler.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

I might have, I'm not concerned with being a "purist". hehe, Sunil said "nub".
Strikemaster makes a bait puck perfect for waxies and spikes, and a bigger one that works great for crawlers.

I got the big night crawler one and the double lid small one both from Strike Master Did not see a cardboard one.

You do know that I laxed up on abusing you for not drinking on Saturday 'cause you were willingly baiting that jig for me, right?
