Hello all. I have made a short video and attached it for reference. I have a 1/2 acre pond that was done a few years ago. My family loves it. Fishing, swimming, everything. It has a good balance of blue gill and LMB. That being said, we want to put in another one, but smaller, maybe 1/8-1/4 acre. It will be a nice view for my parents from their camper, and we want to stock it with FHM and perch only. We tried perch in the bigger one and I havent seen one in years. Im guessing the LMB gobbled them up. So here is the big question.
If you look at the video I attached, is there an issue with the area I want to put the second pond. It is about 150ft down from the sand filter of the septic. we wouldnt be swimming in the pond, we have the big one for that. It would mostly be for scenery, and some raising of perch/FHM. I really dont have any questions about the construction, the ground is good clay in my area and holds water well. The guy that did the first one will be doing this so I guess I can say he knows what hes doing, the first one came out excellent and hasnt leaked in 4 yrs so.. So the main question, would you have any issue putting it down there, 150ft from the sand filter area? Thanks for reading and any input.

150' is plenty far away. Here in Va the minimum seperation requirement between septic and a body of water is 50', although I am aware of at least one county that adopted a code to increase that to 100' and I'm sure there are many others. But keep in mind that those seperation distances are for protection in the event the septic system fails and untreated effluent surfaces and then is able to be washed downslope by runoff towards a body of water. Generally, waste water from a septic system that is functioning properly will recieve treatment from the soil immediatley around and beneath the system and if it somehow migrated 150' through soil and made it to the pond, which is very unlikely, it theoretically should have recieved more than enough treatment to no longer be a health risk.

Most places require 50' foot from water for your septic field. 100 foot from well and 300' from well drinking water.

Here in Indiana, it's 50' from septic to well. I think you will be fine.
