When I fish with the SS pellets, if I see the line twitch, I set the hook. No waiting at all.

Gonna have to have our Lady fly fishers giving fishing lessons... laugh

So maybe that's my problem. I am putting these pellets on incorrectly. I will continue my quest to catch a fish on these SS pellets if it's the last thing I do!!! smile

....and I will have to go back again and try setting that hook early on. Every time I have gone that route, I have got nothing.

They will still hit flies - we tried a little brown fly for BG a couple of weeks ago just for diversion and caught BG and HSB.

I handed out a number of sample packs earlier this year I made up with all the flavors.

Been getting reports back, and everyone really likes the product. I may have given out too large of samples tho. They really hold up to many catches.

I still use the original quadapus I made from a LB worm. Hammers the GSF! #8 bait hook on dental floss (nano) with a BB size split shot about 3.5' up. Wait till the split shot hits the bottom, then bounce it along the bottom with quadapus in tow. Yep!

A cousin used some Stubby Steve's pellets I gave them last week and caught 15 large CNBG in 20 mins from the dock. To them its magic to me its fun.

Eric, Stubby Steve's is Coppernose Crack.

Every time I get a fly casting lesson from George, I immediately head to the big puddle to practice. Sometimes it's hard to tie a real fly or popper on when I know the CNBG will hammer the SS's.

Like JKB, I have one #8 circle hook with a SS's pellet that's been repacked in the bag after use since June.

Don't belileve her JKB, she's got a scuba diver down there with a basket full of fish. She casts the lure so it drifts to him, and he immediately pins on a live fish for her. grin

Nice going Stacy!!!!

Now that the tourists are pretty much gone, it might be worth a trip to the piers and see what's up. The YP came close, then the water warmed up and they headed out. A few Coho are hanging around now.

Guess they are doing well with the YP south of St Joseph.

The Black is an interesting color.

I love Stubby Steve's too! I got some pellets in June. I use them in a controlled way every three or four weeks to survey the growth of HSB in the pond. I catch three or four and then stop because I don't want to cause them to stop eating. Not sure if they would or not. I have caught the last eight on one pellet. Crazy stuff. Fish pellet mfrs should include an advertisement for Stubby Steve's on their bags - yes they are THAT good.

JKB, water will be cooling down quick. Low temp Friday is supposed to be 39°F in South Bend, and I suspect that it will be even less out in the country in low areas.

39; we can only dream of that. However, it will be a high of 90 on Saturday. Then back to 98 Sunday.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

36°F this morning... A tad cool for September.

Went to the South pier to snoop around. All the parking lot's are closed for renovations. It's a long walk from the nearest open parking lot. Said they'll be done by Nov. 4th. Yeah, right!

I'll swing by the North pier later. Hopefully that is still open.

I gotta get a boat!!!

Great looking fish! The water behind Mrs. G looks flat out awesome.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I have thrown SS on a nothing but a hook and regualr pellets even and same thing happens all the time. They come up and flash at it and swim away?? Whats up with that? I can then throw out a handful of AM 600 and they go nuts eating it. I throw back in there and all I get is a quick flash and no bite?

Maybe I need a fly rod frown

Thanks Spark - IMO water quality credit goes to surface aeration. Pond survived hot Texas summer and low water conditions - so far September is the hottest temps on record.
