I have a 5hp well pump that I use to keep the water levels up in my 2 acre pond over the summer. Years ago I pile rocks around it as to create a mini waterfall ( better that a PVC pipe sticking out)!
I am wondering if I could extend the PVC into the pond and create some type of areation? Maybe a fountain or drilling small holes in the PVC to force that cold well water to the bottom - or both, run PVC from the well pump to the center of the pond, have it extend from the surface and along the way drill small holes is the PVC?
That way there is no back pressure as what water didn't get forced out of the holes would contribute to a small fountain?
This is something that I have been trying to figure out also...
My well inlet pipe is just now breaking the surface of the water..(Spring rains) Have a couple of ideas myself, but don't want burn up a submerged well pump because I don't have a pressure tank on the pond well...
I am thinking of just putting a piece of slotted corrugated tile under my floating dock and running the water thru..
My idea or hope is it will create enough turbulance in the ripples to add O2 as well as drop thru the slots over a greater surface area...
Might be completely off on this, but has to be better than just pumping into the water direct from the well...
