There's certain kinds of onions for certain regions of the country.. Long day, short day and intermediate day onions.. Also always plant transplants for onions, bulbs for green onions, and when you plant the transplant only plant basically the roots maybe 1/2" deep, they like about 1/2-1" of rain a week but mine usually don't get that, pretty much the solid don't matter too much since most of the onion grows out of the ground.. Check out dixondale farms online for info they have good transplants too not crap like Walmart.. Good luck they are one of the easier things to grow if start them right..
