Pond Boss Forums AQUATIC VEGETATION Controlling unwanted plants Plaktonic Algae

Im bringing this part over from the Questions and observations forum. Very low visibility pond (3-4 in) needs to clear up, heres the rest of what I wrote: Found a bookmarked website today showing what I used last year in an attempt to clear my water. Brand name is Crystal blue, product I used was 3 gallons of crytal plex,(chelated copper) I dont recall any significant results.
The other algae product they offer is copper sulfate crystols, would this be any better.
Using there algae identifier, I no doubt have Planktonic algea in a bad way.
Anyone have any experience with these products and know how to apply them, they talk about using a boat which we dont have.
I have to get this pond clear but I believe these products are also harmful to fish eggs, any recomendations???......Thanks ...........

What is the general color or hue of the water?

Usually green, It Was very green recently, then turned dark brown. A day or 2 later it looks geenish brown. As I stated the visibility is VERY poor, as it has always been in this 2-3 yr old pond.
I took A quart jar sample on saterday morning which today is still cloudy but, alot more clear than it was. Along the bottom edge of the jar there are green speckles (not enough to cover) along the bottom edge? I took the quart sample to see if I had suspeded clay particals in it that would settle and clear the water, It appears not.
Some are suggesting Cutrine, will this harm eggs?

With color changes you have different species blooming and crashing. To be on the safe side I would check with Applied Biochemists who manufacture Cutrine and Aquashade. Customer Service at www.appliedbiochemists.com

Eggs and fry are almost always more sensitive to chemicals than older fish. If you have had this condition long term why not wait till spawn is over? If you kill most of the food for the fry it won't make much difference if you have a big hatch or not.
