Hello, i found this site while trying to figure out the average cost of CUYD of excavation (for ponds) in my area. After finding this site, I have read posts everyday for the past two weeks and gleaned some good information.

I was skeptical about posting, unless i had a specific question because there are so many experts on this site, but i will try to help out in any way I can. I do know soil and soil mechanics (Midwestern Soils), most things to do with drainage, surveying and application rates for countless misc. things. I have limited knowledge of DO, BOD and COD (Water and Wastewater or as most engineers call it: Poo and pee). I also spent a summer in college trapping various creek chubs, bugs and grubs so my then girlfriend (wildlife management) could practice identifying them.

The main reason I am drawn to this site is the fact that i spent most of my childhood in/around ponds, lakes, creeks, drainage ditches and rivers. We (along with my brother and a few friends) MIS-MANAGED 6 ponds while growing up and it was a awesome experience (and I reckon the best babysitter my Mom ever had). I once tried to stock a 1 acre pond with rainbow trout at 10 yrs old (sure wish they had this site 25 years ago).

My family is in the "trying to buy land" stage of pond building (we made an offer yesterday), so it will be a few before we decide to build a pond. My main goal of having a pond isn't monster BG, LMB, SMB or anything of that nature. It's giving my 1.5 yr old boy the same opportunity at fun i had as a kid. TY
