I have a spring feed 1/2 acre pond. It has fat head minnows, bluegill and redear. Nothing else.

What would you put in now? Would like to have fish to catch and eat at some point.

Where do I get the fish from? (I live in North Georgia).

Thanks for your help.

How long have the FHM, BG and RES been in the pond for?

Depending on your goals and if you feed or aerate, I would stock between 30-50 LMB and if you wanted some bonus fish, a small number, say 5-15 each of CC and/or HSB.

Minnows and Bream were put in last Oct.
They are doing well. Also have 2 GC. (4 died).

Where is the best place to get CC and LMB?
What about Crappie?

Why too small for Crappie? Do you think they'll take over and become overcrowded?

YES, most biologists agree any lakes under 40 acres, some say even 200 and I think 1000 is probably best to leave crappies out of. WHY? Because crappies are a boom, bust spawner which spawns earlier than bass. Their YOY outcompete and eat YOY bass. They grow too fast in the beginning for bass to control and end up stock piling in the 6" range stunting badly.

Unless you want to intensively manage for crappies or end up with paper thin 6" crappies.
