Those boys sure tried hard. We brought them some bait when they were inches from the dam.

The dam has a lot of surface area, so the water depth going over the dam is only about 1-2 inches. The boats have at least 12 inches of draft, probably more like 14-18 inches. If a boat edges up against the dam, its draft is too low in the water to pull it over.

With that, I can just imagine a cell phone call from Sunil while he is hurtling down river, somewhere between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, saying -- "Hey dude, I think I may need some assistance ..."
