Yes Dave plus without much higher alkalinity the fertilizer would not absorb (work to create a bloom). With that much flow adding enough ag lime to do the job would be prohibitive. Those two limiting factors made the feeding option as the only effective method to grow bigger and more fish. The base of the food chain is mostly pellets (and some plankton but not a high % ).
