Hey PB's

Has anybody thought about setting up a PondBoss Wiki?
It could serve as an nice place to put an archive of all the excellent information out of the forum.
The archives here are great (as well as google searching the forum), but sometimes its difficult to find what I'm looking for, or I get sidetracked reading through threads trying to find something.
It could have some major categories, much like the forum does, and have subcategories/pages under each of those.

Preferably, it would be set up for community input (anybody can go in and modify/add -- can set restrictions -- changes must be approved by mods or several users, etc).

Your thoughts? Has anybody has experience managing or contributing to wikis that could provide any insight?

In case anybody wants to see a sample of what types of things can be done with a wiki...

I threw together a quick wiki on wikispaces, customized it a bit and added a few pages of sample content. Wasn't too hard for my first time messing with it.

Viewing the wiki is public to everybody.
Anybody could create a membership through wikispaces and request to be added as a member. Once a member, they can modify content.
Revisions of content are saved and can be reverted quite easily.

Nathan, I know that the search feature and finding stuff on here can be hard. There is so much info here it boggles the mind. However, I would have to wonder, if it all ended up on a Another format ( wiki, etc) would it be easier to find because of its vast amount would get be so sprawled out.

Now keep in mind, I am mostly a computer dummy. I don't really grasp the idea of a wiki, and the ones I have tried at other places, I have never been impressed with. I don't want to seem like I am knocking down your idea, just that I don't know.

The few organizations that I have belonged to over the years, they are always in need of more help. It's probably the same here. It takes time to add another thing to the list.

As soon as you set up something like that, you end up with Wikileaks and none of us want those hassles in our ponds! grin

Not a good idea to loose the PB source. Not for any of us!

Hey Todd, I heard a scream the other day...

laugh

I'll have to see what the snakes are up to this year. Last year there were a bunch of Blue Racers hanging out under my shed out back. A few years ago, my Mom had to hire an exterminator to take em out. They were all over the place. They can give you a scare if you are not expecting it, although I would probably yell out some profanity then do a garment change rather than scream laugh

Just wondering, if I screamed, would that eliminate a potential garment change? laugh

Todd if you don't like snakes DO NOT MOVE TO SOMERSET COUNTY

This year I allready killed 23 snakes 2 of which were copperheads. I let the raccoons and every thing else live but snakes well...

Sarcasm...yet another free service I offer.
