1/3 acre pond 10 /11 ft deep with beach area. Looking for secondary food source with pleasure fishing for grand kids. Stocked 220 blue gill 2 inch to 10 inch, 8 lmb from 7 in to 12, 5 crappie 4 yellow perch and one channel cat 18 inches long.. I have been hand feeding bread and dog food( cat fish loves it) pond is one year old and been catching creek minnows for 2 months and placing them in there. Lots of frogs and starting to put crayfish in here tomorrow.. Now question is
Am I stocking this right/ or am I rushing
Do I need more feeder fish I have blu gills and pumpkinseeds
And I would like to add a couple smallmouth ( adults) for novelty

The crappie might cause problems down the road. Recommended forage fish to LMB ratios 20-30/1 (forage fish to LMB).

Can you take pictures of these "creek minnows" and post them on here? I am curious what species you are stocking...
Your method of stocking isn't recommended for several reasons, but the numbers you have stocked are fairly close to being in line. Are you confident you stocked only bluegills(BG) and pumpkinseeds(PS)? Let's hope all the crappies were male or female... A reproducing population of crappies in smaller ponds can be a real management challenge.

LM bass 12" will easily eat 5"-6" perch. Expect each bass to be able to eat 200-300 small fish per year depending on the size of bass and forage fish available.

Yea all bg and ps .. And most minnows from creek look like fat head minnows, but will post pics on next trap check

Neither bread nor dog food is good for fish. The nutrition and protein that they need just isn't there. I would use some real fish food.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Plus the type of fish food depends on if you are feeding just panfish-hybrid BG, catfish - omnivores - 32%protein) or predator fish - bass, trout, yellow perch (higher protein 40%+).
