Hello new to site.
We bought a home that has a 1/4 acre pond,was told it was 12 years old and about 9 ft deep, average depth approx 4 feet.A ground water creek flows into it when it rains,exit is a 4 foot coragated pipe. when we got the property it was apparent the pond had never been taken care of and according to the neighbor it basically turns into a swamp in the summer. We have been treating with muck reducer and cutrine plus wich has taken care of the alage that took over in april. Towards the exit of the pond I walked into the water and sank to my upper thigh in muck. we raked as much as we could around the perimeter, but im guessing the muck is a couple feet deep throughout. This weekend we are putting in aerator. Its a 1/3hp Thomas pump came with 3 round air discs. My question is will aeration and the muck reducer every month even put a dent in all the muck thats in there. The pond also has thousands of stunted BG no bigger than 3" with no other fish. I stocked HSB,LMB,CC and YP. Most of the YP died after a month or so. Will the aeration cause problems with the fish. Thanks for any intel
