Background; have old 2 acre lake, restocked last year FHM, CNBG, HBG, LMB. Added a fish feeder. Desire is to catch large BG with nice but not trophy bass.
Did water sample and here are some numbers: Calcium: 15 PPM PH: 6.31 Alkalinity: 68 Hardness: 3 (grains CaCO3/gallon)
My question; are any of the above numbers a concern and if so how do I correct it?
I have added a well and it's PH is 6.8. I've been pumping water in so that should improve my ph.
When my feeder goes off the BG crash the surface. I've got FHM all in the shallow grass areas. To me; it looks pretty good. But I'm a novice.
Do I need to do anything?

I do have a petro chemical background and waste water treatment.
PH of 7 is neutral. Most all elements at that PH are tied up with others making them less reactive or corrosive.
The high levels of carbon in rain makes it more acidic so the well water being higher would be great. Plants on average love a slightly acidic water so there is a few micro nutrients available.
Hope this helps. All I got for ya.
Cheers Don.

Since no one else will ask- What is the Phosphorus level? The TAN? The DO level? What time of day was the pH tested? Since it is always lowest at dawn and highest at dusk, a reading of 6.31 could be problematic if this is an afternoon/evening reading. Ideal pH range is normally 6.5 - 8.5.

Phosphorus is .04 ppm. Magnesium 3 Sodium 9 Potassium 5 Boron .06 Carbonate 0 Bicarbonate 83 Sulfate 4 Chloride 17 Nitrate .02 Total Dissolved salts 136 SAR .6 Iron .29 Zinc .02 Copper .01 Manganese .01
The report didn't indicate TAN nor DO. The sample was taken first thing in the morning; 8 am. Many thanks for you help. This is all interesting to me but at this point I feel like Pres. Obama...I don't know nothing about anything.

Looks like a pretty good set of test results. NitrAte seems low. Did you have an algae bloom this spring?

Algae bloom...not sure. I do have some pesky brown moss type stuff starting to show up. Is my ph of 6.31 a problem? I'm hoping since my sample was taken early in the morning that it is ok.
My underling fish seem to be loving the environment and are attacking the Aquamax 500.

I think you are ok. Can you tell if you have a plankton bloom (green tint to the water)?

I wouldn't worry about your pH. It's very close to neutral. The pH scale is logarithmic which effectively means 6 is weakly acidic. A pH of 5 is 10 times stronger than 6, and a pH of 4 is 10 times more acidic than a 5 (or 100 times more acidic than 6). I know some things like weakly acidic or basic environments, but anything between 6 and 8 is pretty close to neutral and also easily changed.
