I do have a petro chemical background and waste water treatment.

PH of 7 is neutral. Most all elements at that PH are tied up with others making them less reactive or corrosive.

The high levels of carbon in rain makes it more acidic so the well water being higher would be great. Plants on average love a slightly acidic water so there is a few micro nutrients available.
